The phrase "primrose path" is meant to describe the pursuit of pleasure to the point of destruction. I thought that it was a fine title for the album.

While North (my previous album) deals with loneliness, Nothing Will Keep Us Together deals with the strange incompatibilities humans sometimes face, and A Stranger Who Listened deals with strength in the face of extreme trial and loss, Primrose Path takes after its eldest sibling The Mellon Session in that it is more scattered thematically. That being said, there are some overarching themes - confusion, complicated relationships, falling from grace - and at the same time finding strength in these hardships. Songs like "The Ones That Will", "I'm Through" and "Girl" almost serve as mirrors to "What Makes You Fly", "Sad Boy", and "I Was The Sun".

Stylistically, it differs quite a lot from my previous work, for it was entirely composed and recorded using my ukulele, affectionately named Stephen.

A huge, huge, HUGE thank you is in order for Skiler, Michelle, Lindsey and Miranda for being the listening ears Primrose needed.

Lastly, Primrose Path is dedicated to my dad. I miss him every day.

I am very proud of this album, and I hope you enjoy it.
